In case you don’t know, that lovey-dovey tune is sung by the one and only Colbie Caillat. Since she released the infamous “Bubbly” all the way back in 2007, Calliat has stayed current by coming out with more and more music. Her four albums are entitled Coco, Breakthrough, All of You, and Christmas In the Sand have worked their way in our ears and hearts.
Some of my favorite tracks include “Fallin’ For You,” “I Never Told You,” and of course, “Bubbly.” I feel like we all know a lot of her songs, we just don’t really know her, which in my opinion, is very unfortunate for many reasons.
Caillat’s funky folk sound makes her stand out in a world of mainly cookie-cutter pop stars. Let’s be honest, these reality singing shows and record labels continue to produce the same kind of sound, and we’re lucky if we can find some albums worth listening to. Personally, I think Caillat’s music speaks for itself, and it says, “Hey, I’m unique. Listen to me.”
This summer, Caillat started to hint at a new album, and soon, she released her first single: “Hold On.” In June, she then released an EP of the album entitled Gypsy Heart Side A. Personally, I think this was a really cool marketing tool. The half album gave us a taste of her new work, but we still desperately wanted more music.
On September 30th, Caillat finally released her fifth album entitled Gypsy Heart. Made out of thirteen tracks of pop-folk music, the album is a continuation of Calliat’s long-standing career. With a theme that seems to send a message to some boy out there, all the songs have wonderful story lines. Story lines in songs are my absolute favorite thing in the entire world. What more do you want in life than a song that connects directly to you?
Since the album was released, it has obtained a four and a half star rating on a zero to five scale. Plus, there’s a flood of great comments on iTunes.
Tell me what you think about Caillat and the procession of her career. Happy kommenting :)
