My absolute favorite product is the Absolutely Almond Pound Cake for possibly a thousand reasons. As with all the Tastefully Simple products, it’s super easy to make, so that’s a great start. But, this mix is unique in that it’s extremely versatile. Sure, there is an almond undertone to the cake once it is made, but it can be paired with fruit, chocolate, and other dessert favorites.
Another dessert-ish item that I look forward to when my mom orders a batch of Tastefully Simple is the Cinnamon Muffin Melt Mix. It’s simple to bake the muffins, dip them in melted butter, and roll them in provided cinnamon sugar. They double as a sweet breakfast or a light dessert. My favorite part about them is that they aren’t really heavy. Some muffins end up like rocks, but this mix luckily does not.
Though the Bountiful Beer Bread has been a high-selling product possibly since Tastefully Simple started, I’ve never been a huge fan of just the bread. To me, it sort of has a weird after-taste that is unappealing. However, there was a recipe released a few years ago for garlic cheese biscuits using the mix that I actually really liked. Even more recently, there was a multi-grain version of the bread created, and I liked that a lot more than the original.
When it comes to baking, you really are free to make some creative choices. With that said, Nana’s Apple Cake can be made with whatever fruit that your heart desires. For instance, my mom has made it in the past with cherries and peaches. Personally, my favorite part is the top crust, which is perfect parts sweet and crunchy.
A new release that I was really excited for was the Salted Pretzel Roll Mix. Who in this world doesn’t love pretzel rolls, which, by the way, seems to be one of the biggest food crazes right now? So, when we baked them this Sunday to be the bread of my school lunch sandwiches, I was pretty psyched. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. There really isn’t much of a pretzel taste, and they’re kind of heavy.
On the drink side of things, I loved the Black Cherry Slush Drink Mix. Though it is intended to be alcoholic, we made it with black cherry soda. This gave the drink a kind of punch that was awesome, but be careful- it sort of dyes your mouth.
What are your favorite mixes from Tastefully Simple? Did I miss one of the best that the company has to offer? As always, feel free to contact me about your personal favorites! Happy kommenting :)
