Dancing With the Stars is starting to wind down, and last night was the semi-finals. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Mr. Tommy Chong and his partner Peta Murgatroyd. However, the four couples that are left are phenomenal performers, and I can’t wait to see what happens for the rest of the season. Who will win??
Alfonso Ribeiro, most known for his role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Witney Carson were immediately a surprising stand-out when they did a Gatsby-themed cha-cha. Even though Alfonso claimed he wanted to do the show partially to lose weight, he was on fire during the premiere episode. He also smashed his flamenco with pro-dancer Cheryl Burke. I actually think it was my favorite dance of his. He’s a very strong, masculine dancer who can really hold his own on the dance floor. Who would have thought? Since the beginning of the competition, both he and his partner have suffered various injuries, yet they have continued to score fairly well. During practices leading up to the semi-finals, however, he injured his back, which almost forced him to leave the show. Still, I think he has a chance at the Mirrorball.
Bethany Mota, a popular vlogger, and the wonderful Derek Hough have also excelled so far in the competition. Beth is a great actress, apparently by her performance as Lucy Ball. She never stops smiling and is always positive despite an ankle injury early in the season. I loved her routines to “All About that Bass” and “Try,” which was based off the bullying she experienced in her teens. Derek Hough is a fantastic choreographer, evident by his Emmy award, so the combination of his and Beth’s skills is kind of magical. I think they have really good chemistry on the floor. Do I think they’ll win? Hm, I’m not sure, but if they do, I don’t think anyone will be complaining.
Country sweetheart Sadie Robertson and professional Mark Ballas are killing it every single week. Their cute little brother-sister chemistry is contagious, and Sadie seems like such a genuine human being. Having “never danced before,” Sadie most definitely has some moves! I’m really not sure that I believe that she didn’t take some classes as a kid. My favorite dance was the pair’s tribute to Adam and Eve, which was so, so powerful and intriguing to watch. Sadie, being so religious, really brought life to her character, and of course, Mark Ballas is just about as awesome as human beings come. I also loved their sweet routine based on the movie, Up. There’s no doubt in my mind that the couple is definitely a possible winner.
My favorite couple of the season is Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish and hot Ukrainian Valentin Chmerkovskiy. Known as Team Janelskiy, the pair has crazy chemistry, which many viewers have noticed. Comments on Instagram pictures and tweets are basically begging them to date each other. All drama aside, Janel is an absolute bombshell. From her West Side Story tribute to the hot and steamy Romeo and Juliet routine, she’s made us wonder which partner is pro and which partner is star. I’ve honestly loved all her dances, so I can’t pick a favorite. Personally, I think that she should and will win the entire show. Plus, Val is due to earn a Mirrorball for his pure awesomeness. Let’s just say I hit my maximum voting capacity for them every week.
Now that you know a bit about the finalists, who is your favorite? Who are you voting for? Happy kommenting :)
